La Pornographie, une idée fixe de la photographie, Alain Fleischer
(Part of Catherine Millet’s theme: Theory)

From this intuition that the Origin of the World (according to Courbet) is also the origin of photographic images as well as their ultimate aim, this essay - very free in its form and without any other program - questions, explores, analyzes these cursed, banished images, where the background, the gap in question, spreads out on the surface, unfolds, exhibits itself, in the combinatorial and declinatory ways that human bodies can offer to this figure. The pornographic photographs appear finally more frank, and perhaps more rigorous in their avowed project, than many other images today massively and openly diffused, which have between the bottom - always the same one - and the readable surface, only a thin veil, only a hypocritical effect of perspective.
