Time works, Michael Wesely

“While the technical progress of photography has consisted for almost two centuries in reducing the exposure time, the German photographer Michael Wesely (born in 1963) tries on the contrary to lengthen it as much as possible: the duration of his photographs (the time the camera lens is open) is equal to the duration of the event photographed, whether it is a football match, the life of a bouquet of flowers before they fade, or the construction of buildings in Berlin (two years and two months). The resulting images condense time.” says Marc Lenot.
