C'est encore loin la mer ?, Vincent Migeat
The Corsica I remember takes root somewhere in the late sixties.
Hot, sunny, cuttlefish, sea urchins, lobsters, shellfish, summer showers, a sea of oil or vinegar. These images are not objective; perhaps they are simply a story, the story of a happy childhood spent between sea and mountains, in the hollows of lost coves, salt in the corner of the eyes and feet studded with sand, the story of carefree, sunny vacations, sensations lost and then rediscovered through photography.
An archaeology of sorts, but the backwash of time alters the traces left in memory. What remains are the sensations: the smell of early-morning scrubland, the salty taste of the sea, the ossuaries of storms, salt-bleached driftwood, the shivering heat, the noises, the lights...
