"Ugo Mulas (1928-1973), after a remarkable career as a documentary photographer, and above all as a photographer of artists and exhibitions, reflected at the end of his life (this book was published a few months after his death) on the very essence of photography. Distancing himself from his previous work, he produced twelve "Verifiche", verifications of what photography was for him. Together with various conceptual artists (including Jan Dibbets), he was among the first to explore the existence of photography beyond the representation of reality.
